✏️ General Feedback / Review: We stayed at Thousand Trails Thunderbird RV Campground in Monroe, Washington, and found it to be a peaceful, forested escape nestled along the Skykomish River. Surrounded by towering evergreens and river access, the campground offers a relaxed atmosphere perfect for families looking to unwind and explore western Washington.

Larger rigs (over 40') should note that the road leading into the campground and maneuvering within the 50-amp full hookup section can be tight. Some sites also require extra effort to level. We couldn’t make the turn into our assigned site, but the staff was incredibly friendly and accommodating, going above and beyond to help us find a better fit. Their responsiveness made a big difference in our experience.

The campground amenities are a standout for a Thousand Trails property—three swimming pools, mini golf, playgrounds, picnic areas, and fishing access along the river all make it family-friendly. We also enjoyed exploring downtown Monroe, a day trip to Seattle for Pike Place Market and whale watching, and even ventured out to Olympic National Park.

While some sites could use a refresh, overall the campground was in above-average condition compared to other Thousand Trails locations we’ve visited. If you’re looking for a riverside basecamp with great amenities and access to both city adventures and natural beauty, Thousand Trails Thunderbird is a solid choice—just be sure to double-check site accessibility if you're in a big rig.
