🚩 Local Area Attractions / Amenities: Wonder Mountain Fun Park is at the front of the campground. It’s not affiliated with Thousand Trails, but it’s a great location for the family to play. The towns of Wells and Ogunquit offer several dining options as well as various access points to explore the coastline and tide pools. Two bakery’s you should definitely try in Wells are Congdon’s Doughnuts and Bread & Roses Bakery. We sampled multiple lobster rolls, and our two favorites were from Wells Beach Lobster Pound (a ocean front restaurant and market in Wells) and Bite into Maine (a food truck in Fort Williams Park outside of Portland). The lobster was more plentiful and fresh at Wells, but Bite into Maine had several unique flavor options. Our favorite was their curry lobster roll. While in Portland, also make sure to visit Duckfat. They quite possibly serve some of the best poutine we’ve ever had! Make sure to add on a side of duck confit 😋 when ordering!

Kennebunk and the village of Kennebunkport is also nearby. If you can time it right, you should plan a trip to the village. From what we were told, it gets a little crazy in thier peak season. We scheduled a whale watch trip out of Kennebunkport, but the weather didn’t cooperate. Instead, we spent the day exploring the village. There are also several trails and preserves in the area to get your nature on. Wells Reserve at Laudholm was particularly enjoyable with over seven miles of trails, multiple historic buildings, and a research lab. Overall, this is a great spot to kick off your visit to Maine.

✏️ General Feedback / Review: The campground was well maintained. Moody Beach appears to be an older Thousand Trails location that is going through phased updates. The camp store, bathhouses and laundry all appear to be recently updated. There is significant tree coverage in the original parts of the park and most of the legacy sites can be tight for big rigs. If you have a 40+ ft unit, I recommend trying to get a site somewhere in the 301-350 or 401-411 sections. Sites 15-25 can also support larger rigs; however, sites 151-201 in the rear of the park are not recommended. We stayed at Moody Beach towards the end of the season, so it wasn’t too busy. Thousand Trails Moody Beach is in a great location for exploring the southeastern Maine coastline and several towns and villages along Hwy 1.
