🚩 Local Area Attractions / Amenities: Endless Caverns is situated at the base of the Massanutten Mountain Range near the Shenandoah Valley. There’s so much to see and do around the area, but you’ll also have a great time if you decide to only stay at the resort. The New Market Battlefield is just down the road. In addition, the Shenandoah National Park and Skyline Drive are also close by. The Shenandoah Valley Discovery Museum is also a great choice if you have younger children. There are many vineyards, distilleries and breweries throughout the area to explore, and the closest city with major infrastructure is Harrisonburg about 20 miles away.
✏️ Additional Notes / Review: Christy found and selected Endless Caverns for our second stop. It’s a great location and we really enjoyed our stay. Upon arrival, we were initially in Section B; however, the next day, the manager was kind enough to move us closer to the playground which was great for the girls. The resort is mostly dirt roads once you enter and pass the rec-center. When I arrived, I was by myself, and the Camp Host helped guide me into our spot. Section B has lost a lot of trees due to an invasive insect, and you can see its impact starting to effect other trees; however, the resort is working with State Officials to reduce the impact. The area is still very beautiful and relaxing.
We did several things during our stay and tried to explore as much of the area as we could. We toured the Route 11 Potato Chip factory and also explored the New Market Civil War Battlefield. In New Market, there’s the Jon Henry General Store where you can purchase local goods and Jackson’s Corner Coffee Roastery and Cafe that serves specialty drinks during breakfast and lunch. The annual Rockingham County Fair was also going on, and they routinely have off-season events on the grounds that you can attend.
We spent a day during our second week at the Massanutten Resort Family Adventure Park. This is a great place to explore with or without snow! So much fun for the whole family from obstacle courses and zip lines, to tubing and riding the chairlift to the top for some amazing views!
We rounded our trip out by driving through the Shenandoah National Park as well as touring our Founding Fathers and former President’s Thomas Jefferson’s Monticello and James Madison’s Montpelier.
Regardless of what you decide to do while visiting Endless Caverns, you’re sure to make some wonderful memories during your trip.
