π© Local Area Attractions / Amenities: White Oak Shores is on the White Oak River in Carteret County, NC. Itβs close to Crystal Coast beaches, and both the intercoastal waterway. In addition, the ocean can be accessed by boat from the resort. Itβs a great location to experience all that the Southern Outer Banks (SOBX) has to offer.
Communities of the Crystal Coast: Family friendly and slowing down to enjoy life. There are 12 communities that comprise the Crystal Coast.
Atlantic Beach, Emerald Isle, Beaufort (hometown of Black Beard), Morehead City, Cape Lookout, Pine Knoll Shores, Harkers Island, Salter Path, Indian Beach, Down East, Newport and Carteret West (which is where White Oak Shores is located).
Swansboro: The Friendly City by the Sea.
New Bern: The original capital of North Carolina.
βοΈ Additional Notes / Review: This was our launchpad for transitioning to full-time RVing. In some wayβs, it will be our homebase since weβre from Swansboro and still have family in the area. The Crystal Coast is a great place to visit and live. The area continues to grow in both population and popularity. Steeped in southern charm and hospitality, itβs a place you can go to unwind and slow down.
White Oak Shores is a newer addition to the Thousand Trails portfolio. We stayed several years ago before they were acquired, and it was ok. There was a noticeable difference in both maintenance and activities during our stay this time. The resort was very well maintained, and you frequently saw personnel working to keep things in top shape. Great stay and experience!
