βοΈ General Feedback / Review: Our Thousand Trails Oaks at Point South in Yemassee, South Carolina stay was overall positive. The campground served as a functional base to explore the Lowcountry region as we continued our journey south. Even though itβs central between Charleston and Savannah, individuals should be prepared to drive 30 to 45 minutes to most major locations.
Most RV sites are spacious and come with full hookups, which we appreciated. Our site was adequate with room to spare. The rural setting provided a peaceful retreat, and we enjoyed walks around the pond and the quiet evenings. It is important to note that the campground can experience standing water after heavy rain. If you plan on staying when theres a chance of rain, itβs recommended to try and get a site above 54.
As Thousand Trails members, we found this campground to be an affordable option, especially for extended stays. However, we think it's important for fellow families to set realistic expectations regarding on-site amenities. Compared to newer or luxury RV resorts, the facilities here are dated. Although this is the case, it is important to note that the staff was exceptional. From the moment we checked in, we were greeted with genuine friendliness and helpfulness. Throughout our stay, we observed the maintenance team working diligently to address various upkeep requirements. The week prior to our arrival, a storm passed through the area resulting in additional clean-up activities.
Overall, Thousand Trails Oaks at Point South may not offer resort-style luxury, but it is a solid choice if youβre passing through the area. It's engaging and positive staff are a highlight and make this campground a good option as a home base to explore South Carolina's Lowcountry.
